National Lemonade Day

National Lemonade Day - August 20th

Crisp, fresh-squeezed lemonade is a refreshing summer drink that will send you back to your childhood. Making lemonade from scratch is simple, but getting the ratio of ingredients just right can be tricky. Making the classic drink at home, especially on a hot summer day, hits the spot! So, grab some lemons, sugar, and water, and we'll show you some of our favorite sip-ilicous creations!

Old-fashioned Lemonade

Bust out the frosty glasses because nothing beats a good old-fashioned lemonade. The best way to extract the juice from a lemon is to let the lemon come to room temperature and roll it on the counter while applying pressure before putting it into the juicer. Classic lemonade consists of water, lemon juice, and sugar. Play around with the ratios of each ingredient to find the perfect sweet to sour taste. Top your creation with a lemon slice and voilà! Share, indulge, and repeat.

Color-changing Lemonade

Color-changing lemonade

Bright colors and fun fruity flavors are perfect for making a kid-approved party lemonade. Start by making colorful ice cubes using water and food coloring. Then make a big pitcher of your favorite lemonade. Salt the rim of the glass, add the ice cubes, pour in the lemonade, and add a lemon slice for garnish. These are great for parties or as an afternoon treat. Want even more color-changing magic? Use butterfly pea flowers instead of food coloring. Steep the flowers in water to create a deep blue color. Pour the tea into ice trays and let them freeze. Pour lemonade over the ice and watch it turn from blue to purple to pink!

Dress It up With Fruit

Strawberry lemonade

Jazz up your lemonade by adding your favorite fruit to any classic lemonade recipe. Blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries add a touch of sweetness and are always a hit with the kiddos. Head off to a tropical paradise with a splash of pineapple and mango. Add these flavors by pureeing your fruit or use fruit juice.

Create a Cocktail

For your next outdoor barbecue or just a relaxing night with the girls, there's nothing like spiked lemonade. It's cold, refreshing, and has the perfect amount of lemony twist. Take your classic lemonade recipe and add the fixings of your choice. Top with fruit garnishes, and you're ready! You can also try blending your lemonade with ice and wine to create a sweet lemonade wine slushy. Whichever way you indulge, please drink responsibly.
